The Third Annual Girl Scout Grand Prix

Troop 40038 has hosted a wooden car derby for the past few years for the girls of the Gemini Service Unit. This year, we’re doing it again – bigger than ever, and through donation of all the supplies and patches we are putting all the proceeds from our event toward our trip!

WHEN: SUNDAY MAY 17 – Racer registration begins at 10:00am – event is planned to run until 2:00pm

WHERE: The Port St Lucie Disabled American Veterans Hall, 1150 SW California Blvd, Port St Lucie, FL 34953

HOW MUCH: $20 per racer. Participants who register by May 1 will receive a car kit as part of their registration. Participants who register after May 1 will need to source their own car. No entry fee for spectators.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: Registered Girl Scouts, adults, and tagalongs are all welcome to race.

Racers will be sorted into level leagues based on the number of registered racers. Awards will be presented for fastest racer in their league, fastest racer overall, best design, and sportsmanship.

Concessions will be available for spectators, and some fun activities will be available for racers in between heats.

Car Specifications:

Cars will be inspected to verify car meets specifications.

Max Width – 2-3/4″

Max Length – 7″

Max Height – not more than 5″

Max Weight – Not over 5 Ounces

Width between wheels – 1-3/4″

Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited

The car shall not ride on springs.

Do not shape, tamper, or modify the wheels.
